Re: Retainers

It doesn't make sense for a ghoul to be treated as the same status as it's domnitor. The peasant who washes the duke's dishes does not have equal footing to the duke.

Re: Absent Sway

I'm all for treating it as an actual merit.

I will say one thing though: it is a little strange that you are codifying the emotion a piece evokes. Art often inspires a full range of emotions or entirely different responses from different audiences.

Re: Absent Sway

I agree with most of what's said here. It's being played way more obvious than how I envision it. I was originally playing it more passive and subtle, but as Keeper kept getting it pointed out by other pcs to the point where I couldn't ignore it. I would think a Absent Sway for 'Anger' or 'Anarchy' ...

Re: Feeding Grounds

One more thing: Further aspect on this is that feeding grounds are an area of conflict. Not just in the "I want this territory!" aspect, but in the fact that specific areas of the city can be attacked and it won't just be solved by "Don't eat in this section of the domain for a while". Plus? I like ...

Re: Feeding Grounds

I've seen feeding grounds in two different games: so far I give them two negative reviews, zero positives. Both times the claim was to make the game more gritty and realistic and both times I felt it did the opposite by over simplifying something that is a huge personal rp decision and leaving a sub...

Is this intended to be a complete listing of the bans?
Could a status ban be used as a punishment?

Re: Character backstory: You were then, like you are now.

-Julien is very much not who he was when he was embraced. Change is a pivotal theme of his backstory. His wife wanted to stay in the 1700's and he didn't (and her Malk derangement didn't help). - The world just reset: so there's all kinds of reasons for characters who went through that to change. -I...

Re: Beast Traits and Downtime

Pros: The humanity system reads as a little light, such as "I can murder 1 person a day, every day, and never drop humanity!" Con: We haven't given it an honest try as written. Seems to have a weird interaction with nightmares (as Drea mentioned) and people who don't come to game every week (Ralph's...

I can see pros and cons either way. So, I would be against a change (because every change means more home-rules).

Re: Secret NPCs

My stance: "As little out of game deception as possible. Preferably none."

Never announcing him as a PC, but having him stand with the PCs at listen up.... that's extremely mild when it comes to out of game deception.

Re: NPCs and Rarity Merits (aka My rules are different)

* You don't mind if the NPCs who are Sabbat pay Sabbat prices (i.e. low path cost, low-or-no clan rarity cost) but you want NPCs to obey the 7-point merit cap wherever they are from. I would instead say different rarity costs. Anarch NPCs have to pay high rarity costs to be a Tremere. Sabbat have t...

Re: NPCs and Rarity Merits (aka My rules are different)

I would have a least 9 out of 10 portrayed NPCs obey the merit cap (or their own Sabbat or Anarch merit cap system).
Merit caps are basically 'special points', it makes the PC's 'special points' less special when NPCs have twice as many.

It's more about keeping rare things rare than power level.

Oh sure, there should at least be contact information and previous conversation with the parents of under 18 year olds, if they are allowed to play.

Re: Kids and LARPing

I've been LARPing with under eighteen year olds for a good chunk of my 12 years playing vampire. I met a lot of great role-players who all started gaming before 18, many who are now staples of the gaming community. I only do NC-17 stuff around people I feel comfortable with anyways (or the adult lit...
