Searchable Inbox?

What would be needed to make Inbox searchable? Is that a possibility? Too much bandwidth/coding/memory/disk space?

It would make Staff's job way easier sometimes.

Re: Feeding Grounds

Okay, folks! You’re talking, and we’re listening. It sounds like many people are worried that this system will be used as a way to punish players who don’t put in enough downtimes on it, and that it will make the game less fun. It also sounds like other folks are concerned that the idea of patrollin...

Re: Seeking Help For Court OOC

Thank you all! And Thanks Tommy who volunteered in a PM to help as Trash. I don't think you'll be doing the tarot cards reading...though MAN that would be funny. Oh man, Thrash doing Tarot Reading. "The cards say you bleedin' suck. An' that this whole fuckin' system needs takin' down a peg. I have ...

Re: Character backstory: You were then, like you are now.

Great point, Justin! I agree that people change. But I think characters who make a 180 between backstory and playtime feel jarring and unrealistic, rather than the changes that people tend to have. Characters theoretically don't know that they just moved from backstory to gametime, but it's really c...

Re: Character backstory: You were then, like you are now.

There's another character here that comes to mind for me that I want to call out, thinking about this topic and how it applies to characters that DO dramatically change: Morgan Sharett! I think Megan did a great job of creating a character who had a dramatic change in her backstory, but with reason,...

Yeah, when I switched from having MrMacabee as my main account to having Ted as my main account, I had to unlink and relink them all. It was a few minutes annoyance, but it's worked fine ever since.

Re: Character backstory: You were then, like you are now.

Melissa wrote:So that's my process! It requires a lot of quick thinking and makes for a rough first month or two. But, it makes for a backstory that very much matches how they play in the game.
That's a great process! And it totally does make for a character with a past that matches their present.

Character backstory: You were then, like you are now.

This is a principle that generally I try to put into practice when I'm writing NPCs, that I encourage other Narrators to use, and that I encourage in players. In general, if you look at a character's past, it should probably be similar to how you play them right now. If there are differences, there ...

Re: Curt: moving from Staff PC to NPC

Hey Stacz, thanks for bringing that up! One thing this definitely doesn't mean is that Curt is unassailable. He's a contentious character a lot of PCs dislike for good reasons! Feel free to attack him, as always, in whatever ways you see fit! Especially wereshark ninjas. There are occasions where St...

Curt: moving from Staff PC to NPC

Due to his changing role in plot, Curt Macabee is now an NPC. (Previously, he was a Staff PC.) This means a few things: - He'll be appearing more often in the story. - Other Staff might play him if it's needed. - If I ever step down, he'll remain an NPC and I won't play him as a regular character. -...

Re: Secret NPCs

My one exception is in situations where we will often hand wave a bit of the Acknowldement process for some pcs to help get them into play. Oh, yes. Yes indeed. Hand-waving some of the Acknowledgment to get PCs into play is just kind of basic decency so we don't kill off every new player. Punishing...

Re: Secret NPCs

BAM has had secret NPCs for a while. I remember Glen played a Toreador antitribu infiltrator as a secret NPC in 2010 or so, and it went well. We were all surprised when he turned. (I was a PC at that point, and so was Ralph if I remember correctly. Lindsay was ST.) I think the main things are: 1. It...

I don't believe anyone here is a lawyer (and I'm definitely not), though a few people here have taken law classes. As far as I understand the law of this, basically if a minor is at game and their guardians decide to press charges, anyone could be liable, but if they don't press charges (or if they ...

Spending XP Online

(Thought we'd posted this a while back, but I couldn't find it.)

If you want to spend your XP through the forums, include the spends on a downtime action, or just send a PM to Staff. We will update your paper sheet accordingly.
